Today we did something new! We made grain-free and gluten-free cupcakes in four different flavors for a wedding cupcake tasting.
Now gluten-free is our bread-and-butter. Quite literally. But grain free? Well we had to do a bit of research to see what qualifies. It turns out that in order to make something completely grain free, you have to exclude the following ingredients:
Love is definitely in the air. Valentine's day is right around the corner and we have been busy planning and making gluten-free wedding cakes.
Today was a monumental day for Zest Bakery! We made our first full wedding cake! To prepare, we made 9 layers of cake (3 layers per tier), and spent a full couple of days baking and prepping for the cakes. Early on the happy couple, decided the bottom 2 tiers would be almond cake with raspberry and pastry cream filling, and the top tier would be almond cake with our house-made lemon curd filling. Both are definite crowd pleasers and we thought it was a brilliant idea to combine their two favorites into one unified glorious cake.
